The UK’s fastest growing connected home company Smarter has been announced as a finalist in the National Technology Awards 2017 this week.

The London-based award-winning startup was one of four companies shortlisted in the ‘Smart Home Solution of the Year’ category.

Smarter is at the forefront of inventive solutions for a more connected life, rising to prominence by creating the first ever Wi-Fi enabled kettle. It has since pioneered the emerging ‘connected kitchen’ lifestyle, producing a bean-to-cup Wi-Fi coffee machine and a second generation 2.0 iKettle all remotely controlled via app.

Smarter will join Bank of Ireland, Revolut, OakNorth Bank, Barclaycard, Seedrs, Mastercard, Misys and Santander Innoventures among the FS sector organisations shortlisted for the awards, alongside other companies such as Addison Lee, Yale, Comtact Healthcare, Yodel and Dixons Carphone.

The Smarter iKettle has been an iconic product for the connected home company since introducing it to the world back in 2013. This year will see a 3rd Generation released later this year.

The company is poised to improve the lives of millions around the world as it prepares to launch its latest product, FridgeCam.

The small hand-held device’s features include, expiry date reminders, the replenishment services and recipe suggestions based on the contents of your fridge.

One of the FridgeCam’s distinctive qualities is the paramount food-tracking capabilities that use advanced object recognition so you are notified when an item is removed from the fridge.

The FridgeCam aims to not just eliminate food waste which has become a growing problem in the everyday household but also money, time and energy.
