The set up to my iKettle 3rd generation failed what do I do?

If the set up to your iKettle 3rd generation was not successful the app pop up saying unable to connect.

The app will provide some helpful tips for when you restart the set up.

Helpful tips for a successful connection:

– Please check the WiFi password and name is entered correctly, characters are case sensitive.

– Please check that the connection light at the bottom of the base is flashing. Once plugged in the connection light will flash for 60 seconds. If the connection light is not flashing please unplug then in the kettle.

– When pairing using BlinkUp, ensure that your devices screen is directly on the connection light. Once the count down to BlinkUp begins you can place your device flat (screen facing down) on top of the connection light, the app will beep or buzz when the BlinkUp has completed and the will now attempt to connect. As the BlinkUp is light sensitive please try not have any strong, direct light next to the connection light.

– Ensure the WiFi network you are connecting to is a 2.4ghz signal. If you have a dual band network that has is split into 5ghz and 2.4ghz please ensure your device is connected to the 2.4ghz signal and has forgotten the 5ghz before you start the setup. You can reconnect to the 5ghz signal after the setup.

Now you have all the knowledge for a successful setup you can select restart the setup!

The connection light is not flashing on my iKettle 3rd generation what do I do?

To setup your iKettle 3rd generation you will need to place your phone screen directly on the connection light to BlinkUP your iKettle to your home network.

The connection light on your iKettle 3rd generation will flash for 60 seconds once plugged in.

If the connection is not flashing please unplug the base from the power source, wait 10 seconds then plug it back in again.

How do I connect another device to my iKettle 3rd generation?

If you have already set up your iKettle 3rd generation with your phone but also want to use it on your tablet, all you need to do is download the app to your tablet then sign into your Smarter account.

If you would like your friend for example to also use your iKettle 3rd generation, what you can do is invite them to your network.

All your friend needs to do is download the Smarter 3.0 app and create a account. You will then go into your network and select add user, a pop up will appear asking you to enter their account email, the app will generate a share link then give you the option to email them the link.

Once they have received the email all the need to do is open the link in their mobile and they are now able to use your iKettle 3rd generation.

I deleted the kettle from my network now it will not connect what do I do?

IF you have deleted your iKettle 3rd generation from your network and would like to set it up again what you need to do is reset the kettles WiFi.

To reset the kettle WiFi please remove the kettle body from the base and hold the button on the base in until you hear three beeps.

Now you can set up your iKettle 3rd generation!

How do I connect my iKettle 3rd generation to my IFTTT account?

To connect to IFTTT please go into your network that you have created, select network settings (cog top at the top right of the page), select works with IFTTT, log into your IFTTT account, go back into network settings, select works with IFTTT then select connect, enter your Smarter account details and that is it connected! You will now be able to see Smarter listed as a service in your IFTTT account.

Now you can start creating IFTTT applets with your iKettle 3rd generation!

How do I connect my iKettle 3rd generation to Amazon Alexa?

What you need is a iKettle 3rd Generation and a Amazon Alexa!

Open the Alexa app.
Search Smarter in the Alexa app skill search.
Select the ‘Smarter iKettle 3.0 and Coffee 2.0’ skill, to open the skill.
Select enable.
Log into the Smarter app to link the accounts.
Discover devices in your network. Alexa will now search for the devices connected in your Smarter app.
You can now see all the devices, including your iKettle 3rd Generation, managed in your Smart home!
Now you can start asking Alexa to turn on your iKettle 3rd Generation!

With the skill you control your kettle with the name you gave it in the Smarter app with Alexa.

If you called the kettle ‘kettle’, you do this:

Commands:

Alexa, turn the kettle on
Alexa, set the kettle temperature to 50 degrees (watch the slider move in the app when this happens, or cooling start if you’ve lowered the temp further than the current temperature, etc)
Alexa, turn the kettle off
Alexa, put the kettle on

Can you use the iKettle 3rd generation without the app?

The iKettle 3rd generation is designed with one button on the base that when pressed will boil the kettle.

The kettle will by default boil to 100 degrees when used manually. You can change the default temperature in product settings.

To reset the defaults manually you can hold the button on the base for 5 seconds until it beeps twice.

What is a network?

If you have our iKettle 3rd generation you will have seen the word network in the app.

Networks allow you to organise your products, so you can have one network for your iKettle 3rd generation at home and another network for your iKettle 3rd generation at work.

You can have multiple networks with multiple products connected to it.

Once the iKettle 3rd generation is set up in your network another user do not have to re-blink up the kettle. You can invite that user to your network so they can also use your iKettle 3rd generation.

How do I delete a product from my network?

You need to be the account owner to delete a product, meaning you are the person who created the network and set up the product.

To delete a product from your network first go into the network, select the settings icon at the top right of the screen, select my products, you will now see a list of the products on your network to delete simply swipe right on the product and select delete.

How do I invite a user to my network?

If you would like your friend for example to also use your iKettle 3rd generation, what you can do is invite them to your network. No need to re-blink up!

All your friend needs to do is download the Smarter app and create a account.

You will then go into your network and select add user, a pop up will appear asking you to enter their account email, the app will generate a share link then give you the option to email them the link.

Once they have received the email all the need to do is open the link in their mobile and they are now able to use your iKettle 3rd generation.

How do I remove a user from my network?

To remove a user from your network, you will need to be the account owner, go into the network, select the settings icon at the top right of the screen, select manage users then you will see all users on that network and can delete users.

How do I check how much water is in my iKettle 3rd generation?

You can check the water level via the app.

In the iKettle 3rd generation home page in the bottom left hand corner is a box that says water, select this and the app will tell you how much water is in your kettle.

There will be the option of cups or basic.

Cups shows you how cups are in the kettle between 1 and 7.

Basic will show is the kettle is empty, low, half or full.

The iKettle 3rd generation can hold a maximum of 1.8 litres of water.

Water level in app is is not accurate. What do I do?

If you think the water level viewer is not accurate please follow the below steps.

First of all ensure the cable is fully unwound from the bottom of the base and tucked in.

Then re-calibrate the water level.

To re-calibrate the water level select the box that says water in the kettles home page, select calibrate, a pop up will appear asking you to remove the kettle body from the base then select calibrate.

The base will now re-calibrate, you will hear the kettle beep during calibration.

How do I set an alarm in wakeup mode for my iKettle 3rd generation?

With the iKettle 3rd generation you can set alarms via the app to wake you up to the kettle boiling!

To set an alarm first find wakeup mode by select network, select the iKettle 3rd generation you wish to boil, select features at the top right hand corner of the screen and select wakeup mode.

When you are in the wakeup mode page to set an alarm select add alarm then you can set the time, alarm tone, days the alarm is to go off in repeat, auto-boil can be turned on so the kettle automatically boils at the selected time or if you wish the app to ask you if you would like to turn the kettle on, temperature you wish the water to be boiled to and the keep warm time.

Once you are happy with the settings simply save the alarm!

I want to move my iKettle 3rd generation within the home?

You can move your iKettle 3rd generation around the house. Please ensure that where you are moving the product to receives good Wi-Fi signal strength and the app will find the product automatically.

What is the difference between the iKettle 2.0 and the iKettle 3rd generation?

The iKettle 3rd generation uses simple and secure pairing with BlinkUp allowing you to connect in a flash!

With the iKettle 2.0 your device required to be connected to the WiFi network the kettle was set up with in order to use the app.

Now with the iKettle 3rd generation you can use the app with any internet connection anywhere! This means you can be on the train home and boil your kettle using 3g/4g.

The iKettle 3rd generation is also integrated with IFTTT so you can connect your iKettle 3rd generation to other smart home devices.

We have kept the same sleek design as the iKettle 2.0, with one small logo change.

I forgot my account password what can I do?

If you have forgotten the password for your account no need to worry!

You can reset your password by selecting forgot my password in the log in screen, entering your account email address then selecting reset password.

You will receive an email from Smarter with a link to reset your password.

How do I update the firmware?

The iKettle 3rd generation automatically updates the firmware when connected to the internet.

What is the warranty for the iKettle 3rd generation?

The warranty period for the iKettle 3rd generation is 24 months (2 years)

The list of routers is blank?

After you have named your product you will be asked to select your router and enter your password.

If the list is blank and you can not see any networks please try refreshing by selecting refresh at the bottom right hand side of the app.

Please ensure you have location services turned on or the app will not be able to see your router. Also ensure that location permissions in your phone settings for the app are turned on.

How do I reset my iKettle 3rd Generation?

If you have changed your router or accidentally deleted the kettle from your network you will need to reset the kettles WiFi to reconnect.

To reset the kettle simply remove the kettle body from the base (not required but makes it easier) then hold the kettles boil button in until you hear 3 beeps.

I think my iKettle 3rd is faulty, what shall I do?
