Picture the scene: a gorgeous hot day spent in the garden, with your sunnies on, sipping an ice-cold coffee. In our opinion, that sounds like utter bliss.

We think that life is all about doing the simple things right. These little pleasures (particularly good food and drink) should be done with care, quality, and a sense of fun.

So, we’ve taken inspiration from dreamy staycations, and created a collection of blog posts that are all about helping you to have an absolutely fantastic Summer (whether you’re at home or away).

In this latest edition of our Smarter Summer blogs, we’ll be sharing a collection of fabulous chilled drinks recipes with you. And, for Part 2, we’ve moved on to coffee.

We’ve put our brains together, and devised five fabulous drinks recipes with you. They make a great treat to enjoy in the garden, to take with you on a picnic, or even to sip at work. If you’re still working at your home office, these ice-cold drinks are ideal to help you cool down during the day (plus, you work hard, you deserve a treat).

Below, we’ll be shedding a spotlight on the wonderful world of iced coffee. Whether you like it sweet or strong, creamy, black or full of flavour, we’ve got drinks to tick all your boxes.

So, let’s get the summer started.

1. Coconut & Caramel Iced Coffee

Ingredients

• Coffee, 240ml
• Ice, a handful
• Coconut milk, 2 tbsp
• Caramel syrup, 2 tsp

Method

• Make the coffee using the Smarter Coffee machine. You can vary the strength, depending on how you like it. Leave the coffee in the fridge to chill for 4 hours.
• Add the ice to a large glass.
• Pour the coffee into the glass, followed by the coconut milk and caramel. Give it a stir, then serve.
  
  
  

2. Vegan Iced Mocha

Ingredients

• Espresso, 2 shots
• Soy milk, 350ml
• Cocoa powder, 1 ½ tbsp
• Maple syrup, 3 tbsp
• Cayenne pepper, ⅛ tsp
• Ground cinnamon, ⅛ tsp

Method

• Use the Smarter Coffee machine to make two shots of strong espresso. Pour into a glass, then leave to chill in the fridge.
• Meanwhile, make the chocolate sauce. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, pepper and cinnamon into a bowl. Mix well, until a sauce is formed.
• Stir the espresso into the sauce, and mix well.
• Split the sauce into two tall glasses. Pour the soy milk on top of the sauce, then serve.

3. Caramel and Pumpkin Iced Macchiato

Ingredients

• Espresso, 2 shots
• Pumpkin flavoured syrup, 2 tbsp
• Caramel sauce, 1 tbsp
• Vanilla almond milk, 180ml
• A handful of ice

Method

• Use the Smarter Coffee machine to make two shots of strong espresso. Pour into a glass, then leave to chill in the fridge.
• Add the ice to a tall glass, followed by the pumpkin syrup, caramel sauce and almond milk.
• Pour the chilled espresso into the glass, and give the drink a stir.

4. Salted Caramel Affogato

Ingredients

• Salted caramel ice cream, 2 scoops
• Strong Coffee, 3 shots
• Walnuts, a small handful, chopped

Method

• Use the Smarter Coffee machine to make three shots of strong espresso. Pour into a glass, and set aside.
• Scoop the ice cream into two short glasses.
• Pour the espresso over the ice cream. Sprinkle the walnuts over the top to finish.

5. Maple Iced Coffee

Ingredients

• Coffee, 1 mug
• Maple syrup, 3 tsp
• Ground cinnamon, ¼ tsp

Method

• Use the Smarter Coffee machine to make the coffee. Pour into a glass, and then leave to chill in the fridge for 4 hours.
• Add ice to a tall glass, followed by the maple syrup and cinnamon.
• Pour over the coffee, and stir.
